I have a Canon PowerShot S400 that if I try to take a picture it will say Memory Card Error. So I purchased a new 1.0GB SanDisk. Unfortunately thid didn't clear up the problem.

I can take a few pictures, sometimes, and then this error message comes up. Sometimes it shows up when I download/upload them from my camera.

Is this repairable? or should I purchase a new camera. Appreciate your opinion.

Thank you.

You may be eligible for a free repair by Canon - see the following service announcement:

First of all, check that the camera can accept a memory card that size since they tend to have limits on what they can take. This should in the instructions or the canon website.

Assuming you're using the correct size(s) and type of card (SD I think) and it is formatted using the camera (again see the instructions), then I would strongly think that it is the camera which is at fault, if you say you have used more than one type of card, and they are both giving you problems. Make sure the memory card is clean, and nothing is obstructing in the memory card slot.

Make sure the memory card isn't locked (little switch on the side) and try putting the photos on your computer (if your computer doesn't have a card-reader, the USB version is cheap and readily available). After the pics are safely on your computer, format your card in camera and try again. In any case, buy a couple more cards, and download your work to computer, reformatting the card in camera, atevery opportunity.

before you bring it to the repair shop, just look the inside of your sd slot if there's a contamination or foreign matter that will block the sd card pads. keep try bec this will not harm to ur cam.
