My fiancee and I just got engaged and I'm excited about planning the wedding. I have decided on a small intimate wedding with a guest list of maybe forty people. My fiancee thinks that we shouldn't even plan a wedding, that it's a waste of money feeding people (family/friends) party favors etc., when we can use the money for our honeymoon. It's breaking my heart and I don't think I should convince him otherwise if he really wants to marry me. What can I do?????

It sounds like you aren't planning to go overboard on the wedding anyway. 40 people sounds very reasonable. Just talk to your soon-to-be and explain to him that you would like to share your special day with your loved ones. He should understand. If you keep it really simple and eliminate any unnecessary costs, such as catering (maybe your families can cook appetizers for you) and expensive venue (maybe have it in a park or at the beach if you're close) and he shouldn't have an issue. My hubby and I spent next to nothing on our beautiful beach wedding and we had the best time. Don't be too upset that he's not super excited about planning the wedding, very few men are, mine included. Just make sure you don't lose sight of why you want to have a wedding, being that you want to share your special day with your loved ones, and I'm sure he'll come around. Congrats on your wedding and best of luck!

Well, technically he is right. Weddings really are a waste of money. People will not even remember the wedding in year except the people involved in it. People spend thousands of dollars in their weddings where the money would be better spent on buying a house or savings, etc. However, he should be willing to go forth with a wedding if it's important to you. I think it's pretty much every girl's dream to have a wedding. I know I do, too.

See if you can compromise some more, maybe cut the wedding guest list down to only immediate family and have a nice bridal shower.
