I keep hearing about all the nutritional benefits of this berry, but know that they are harvested from a certain tree in the Amazonian rainforest. If I purchase products that contain these berries or their extracts, am I harming the environment or do they grow these trees on farms to harvest the berries?

The Açaí berry is native from amazon, as the Rubber' seringueira (latex).

There are organized groups and companys that collect the Açaí in the forest, preserving the nature. The same to collect nuts (castanha do Pará) and latex.

If you became a regular consumer of the berry, your health will improve and you will help the people of Amazonas state (and others) to live better and to get money, in peace with the nature and the forest.

Do your grocery shopping with a list and a period limit; that way, you're more unlikely that to stray into the processed foods section.
