Encourage him to follow his dream, and tell him he has your support. He'll probably love you even more. You might even hint at getting married. Four years is plenty of time for you two to make a solid commitment.

You should be supportive of him. Talk to him about. See why he wants to go all of a sudden. But remember to be supportive. After all you guys have been together for 4 years right so its not like he's going to forget about you. Trust me it'll be good to just have some down time for a little bit and before you know it he'll be back home. Good Luck.

It seems that the coast guard is his door to leave you. Don't give it a second thought, let him go and wish him the best.

Tell him you want to talk to him and let him know how this makes you feel and see if that changes things..If not you must let him follow his dream and his heart.

You can't not let him go, then he will just be miserable...you have to let him go and if it is meant to be then everything will work out.
