"Dear Mrs. Schmitt,
Thank you so much for your invitation to lunch, and the nice time when I visited Ostfildern.
I am sorry I do not speak German yet. I would very much enjoy being able to maintain a conversation with you and Mr. Schmitt.
I am currently trying to learn the basics of the language so that I can communicate with you the next time I visit.
Everything in the States is well, Spring has arrived and the first rains have started. I have my own garden here, and I like to grow my own, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers and onions, so I am hoping for a mild season this year.
I hope you and Mr. Schmitt are doing well, and I hope he enjoyed the Tiramisu!
Warm regards,
Betty "
