think it over for a while before joining. is this really something you want to do, or is it something that just seemed convenient at the time?
consider how long the time commitment is also. are you really prepared to give up years of your life for this? are you ready for the possibility of serving in Iraq?
consider your other options such as college and working when you graduate, and try and find what is best for you and what you REALLY want

The military was the best experience of my life. It taught me so much. I was not a Marine though...
Marines seem to get the toughest training and get the lifestyle drilled into them a bit more, for lack of a better term. If that's for you, then great. In my own experience and from talking to others who were in the other branches, I think the other branches are, well, better. They're bigger -- The Marines are the smallest of the branches, in fact they're technically a branch OF the Navy. And the other branches seem to treat their personnel a bit better.
I think the military is a great idea, but my advice would be to make sure you agree and understand all the benefits and that you like the job you get -- in the Army you know the job before you sign the papers and if you don't like it you can insist on something else. At least that's what it was like years ago, I'm told.
Whatever you decide -- GOOD LUCK and be safe!

Marines are pretty tough. Too tough for me (a guy) and I went into the Army instead.
If you can hack it, great.
Basically when I was looking to join the Armed Forces, I was a big wuss and didn't want to do anything too hard. The options in the Air Force were limited, so I chose the Army; the Marines just scared me.
Of course after the Army I fear almost nothing. If I'd been a Marine I'd fear nothing at all.

You should join the Marines. They are much more toleralnt and accepting of people who do not know how to spell and form thoughts using words, punctuation and capitals.
Not being mean..... just real world. The Marines are a fine service but even they will question your education. Text speak and slang will get you in but at the same time nowhere.

You should listen to **** you's answer 'cause he really knows what he's talking about. I'm a grand example of that. The Air Force took a dumb little high school country boy from South Texas, gave me an education (master's degree), made me an officer (retired colonel), let me fly their pretty li'l airplanes (fighters), and paid me on top of all that. When I left the service I had two professions, pilot and electrical engineer. I used both to make a somewhat decent living. Now I'm 66 and those dirty rascals provide me with free medical care for the remainder of my life. Yeah, ol' **** you is sure right. They just treated me AWFUL !!!! Shame on their bods.

as soon as i get out of college(not in college yet) I'm going to join the Armed Forces. There is nothing better than serving your country. Tell them that it's what you want to do. Plus you can gain a lot of skills from joining the military. also the sense of accomplishment. These are things my cousins told me, and they've convinced me.

I think it is a bad idea. I have issues with females in the military though. Are you willing to be held to the same standards of a male service member of the same age as you? You won't be but should be. You will get more time to run your mile and half and more lax standards for most crap like that.

If you just got the idea & info today, don't act just yet. Make sure you think it over for a little while, discuss it with your family, and weigh it against any other goals you may have had previously. It certainly is an admirable thing to want to do.
