what i mean is the fact that she is shorter than i and she wraps her arms around my neck pulls herself close and hugs with a tight grip as she presses against me and holds for more than 5 min. that what i mean by mixed signals.

mmm, well. Looking at this situation, some people have different way of hugging people becuase they like to hug someone in a certain way. Maybe she does this to all her guyfriends and she prefers this way becuase with any other type she might feel its not meaningful and heartfelt. Hugs are comfortable things to do usually and they often feel good. I know that my guyfriend likes a short quick hug, whereas I like being hugged from behind for a long time. I'm a pretty short woman (5ft on the dot) and sometimes it hard for me to hug my friends because they're so tall and I can't usually get my head over thier shoulders when I hug. So I kind of understand where your friend is coming from. If you feel this is too close of a hug, maybe you should gently tell her that you're uncomfortable hugging so tight and for so long. She's your friend and she would understand, right? (assuming you want a friendship rather than a girlfriend.)

Why don't you help her next time? Pick her up before she starts to hug you?
Then give her a hug. If shes silly she might just wrap her legs around you also. Its a pretty good guess you have a fun girl hanging on you. The shorter ones always have that little extra spunk!!!

So shes alot shorter than you..and your tall? She just feels like your her protector..its human nature. She most likely wants a relationship with you, but that doesnt necessariely mean she loves you. Have you been bringing her out to eat/buying presents for her? (laugh). Just remember she has emotions..and you already decided what her emotions for you are. You could still have a friendship with or without benefits or have a girlfriend. Just realize its easier to make a friendship with benefits a relationship then change a relationship into a friendship with benefits. Decide what you want...friendship, a friendship with sex or someone who loves you (of course with sex). Then its up to you...to change her...emotions to fit....what you want.
