Spread a lot of shortening across the bottom and side of the pan. I've been told that instead of flour, you can use sugar and it'll work the same way but be see-through when cooked and also add a little sweetness.

The best answer to buy good stoneware like from Pampered Chef: http://www.pamperedchef.com/our_products/catalog/product.jsp?productId=8749&categoryCode=FH

I'm EXTREMELY cheap and I've spent the money on them. I LOVE THEM- they cook evenly, no underdone top and burnt bottom and I swear I really do NOT sell it and that website isn't any personal consultant's. It's the healthiest way to go, too.. no cooking spray or fats added to just make it non-stick.

a disk of parcment paper cut to fit the botom of your cake pan is foolproof, just use a table knife to free the edges of the cake and turn it out onto your plate or cooling rack

grease the tin with butter, then flour it and line it with baking paper. Peel the paper off when you turn it out to cool
