I wore an ivory dress on my wedding day. I have too fair of a complexion to wear white. At the bridal shop, they had mostly white dresses to try on. As soon as I put on the first one, my mom said," You are definitely wearing ivory! We can't tell where the dress ends and you begin!" So, if your fair skinned like I am, I would definitely choose an ivory dress. Congratulations! Good luck finding your perfect dress!

My dress was ivory with a champaign band around the top and bottom. It worked well for me, but I have olive color skin. I'm not much into tanning beds and if you feel the same you could always apply some sunless tanner and then go try on the dress. But I don't see any reason that ivory shouldn't work for you either way. Congrats and best of luck!

Ivory is a beautiful colour, especially for people with lighter skin. It makes you look less washed-out than pure white does.

If you aren't sure what color you'll look good in ... try on one of everything. No need to limit yourself to just ivory, just white or jsut champagne. Dresses come in many more shades and colors now so anything is doable. There is no harm in trying things on and the worst you could say is you don't like it ... have fun!

When you go to try on dresses the ladies will help you choose the right color. You sound like my coloring and I wore Diamond White, it was the best color for me out of all the shades I tried on. Your best bet is to try a few different colors and find one that suits you, its hard to know when you are just looking at them online or on a hanger in the store, you really cant tell unless you put it against your skin. Dont worry, you will find your right shade of white!
Good luck!

Ivory is always an acceptable color for a wedding dress, if you look better in ivory than white, go for it.

Wearing white can make your skin look darker, the ivory is more likely to make you look washed out and paler.

It really depends on how you feel when you put on the dress. Try putting the dress on in white and ivory and see which one makes your eyes light up. Then you know.

My best advice to you is to go to a dress shop and try them on. I know it sounds crazy but try on all the different shades of dresses they have there, you will really be surprised with what colours and tones match your colouring. It may also depend on what season you are getting married in because then your foundation may change. Different dress colours flatter different body types and changes. Bring a couple of girlfriends with you, or your mom and try them on. Your friends will be brutally honest with you - - afterall they are not going to let you looked washed up on your special day :)
