Well which would win?

There would probably be some dependence on just how you pitted the two against each other (drag race? road course? and if a road course, which specific course and under what conditions?).

Overall, you are talking about one car with 305hp in a 3400 pound package, and one with 170hp in a 3200 pound package. The later has a better braking package and may have AWD (you didn't specify). But the former has more low down power as well as simply more power overall!

Given equal drivers, the Tran Am would have a massive advantage in pretty much any competition. However, because there are a couple strengths to the Audi, you probably could find a situation where it would win... a road course with enough hard braking zones to over cook the Pontiac's brakes, but with mostly mid-speed exits to keep momentum more important than total power... and do it in the rain (assuming AWD for the Audi).

Other than trying to put together a perfect scenario for the Audi, it would only see the Tran-Am's tail lights.
