I'd go with hair clips because it sounds like this is more of a hair-style problem then hair-care problem.
However,if those fly-aways are due to split ends, a haircut of course solves that issue. & when my hair was longer, I had lil fly aways because my hair is curly and was kinda frizzy.
I started using the thermasilk line of curl care and most importantly... their frizz fighter (jot that down) it's a weightless hydrating cream that you rub into your hair either damp or dry and it just helps get rid of the frizz without making your hair greasy (majorly important when changing hairstyles halfway thru the day. ie:going down, after having it up).
Try a V05 treatment too- always helps.
hope that helps.

Use a 'working' hairspray. I got a reasonably priced one at Sallys to do updos so that the hair was still pliable if I wanted to move something around. The brand was ION, and it also added shine which is cool. Comes in a white aerosol can, pinkish writing i think. Good luck !

try a styling cream. Or a really cheap trick is to use a little bit of hand lotion. Rub it on your hands first, then run your hands over your hair to smooth it down.

choose different clips. you can do different styles
4 example.... if you do a bun place the bun in the center surround it with different or the same clips making it look like a crown.
you could get ones with sparkles, different shapes.

good luck
