hi i just opened up something to change the batteries and they had white crusty stuff almost caked onto it. I removed the batteries which means i touched it. I don't know if this is an exploded battery or something, but anyway is it bad?

yep, it's acid -- wash your hands real good, and don't spare the water.Be a good idea to clean the storage area of whatever youtook the batteries out of with concentrated solution of baking soda and water to get any leftover acid taken care of

P.S. if you got any of the white stuff on your clothing, look
for holes after you wash them next time

Heres the thing. It is an acid that leaks out of old batteries. It isnt horrible and wont hurt you. Just dont touch it because its an acid. Maybe make your skin a but red bit nothing serious.

just make sure to wash your hands and throw the batteries away. They leak and that stuff is the acid inside the batteries.

No, it not harmful. Its just corroded acid where the battery must have been opened or cracked. It cant hurt you.
