what is up with people that drive slow in the left lane on the interstate. I live in a smaller city so no one knows how to drive. So when I'm driving speed limit in the left lane and come up to a car that is going 5 under the speed limit they don't get over, and there is no car in the right lane. Is it just that they don't know which lane to drive in or do they just want everyone to pass them on the right, I thought it was pass on the left drive on the right. Would it be possible to have signs put up on our interstate that say slower traffic right lane we don't a single thing like it and apparently we need it. Sometimes I wonder what these people would do if they drove in LA. Ok my rant is done.

Yes..this annoys me too. I disagree with the poster who said that these people just don't know better. If that's true, then that's pretty sad and those people should NOT be driving in the first place. Honestly, I believe most people know better but either don't care or are simply not focused enough on the task at hand to get out of the way. Whether we're talking ignorance, innattentiveness or malice it comes out to same, either drive differently or get off the road. Maybe in some places which have minimal highway traffic it wouldn't be a big deal, but where I live ( Western CT) it is extremely critical, as the volume of traffic here is intense at most parts of the day. Therefore, everyone needs to be on the ball and do their part. And if they don't just make your own break and keep the traffic moving. Nuff said.

Technically speaking, you are right.

There is one thing, too though... If the speed limit is 65 and I'm pegging 72 in a 20 year old car because I am slowly overtaking an 18-wheeler rig, I can't STAND the mofos who think they're going to push my bumper and for those who think this is telling me to get out of the way, let it be known that if you tailgate then I have to increase my own following distance from the car in front, because that's safe driving.
Even though my 20-y.o. bmw will still do 120mph+ and has no governor, they don't want me to test that now, do they?
Right, because neither do I.

So, no pushing lol, the speed limit is technically the maximum allowed, and not the recommended average.

That having been said...
At least in the USA, it is allowable to overtake cars that are moving slower in the left and you're in the right, just be cool and kinda ease past them and it's no problem.

Europe is a different story, but they're not too picky about it here, just be cool, drive with the flow and don't always try and be first on race day.

Not saying you are, just venting my own .02 lol

Some highways do have signs that say slower traffic keep right...I guess its not a rule that you have to know how to read in order to drive? Oh and about the slow people in the fast lane that dont get over...they are just idiots and apparently there is no rule against that either..hmmm if only we can add that to the driving test, maybe???

the fast lane is the lane farthest to the left. In maximum states you're no longer think to rigidity in the left lane until eventually passing. do no longer enable the words rapid lane and slow lane fool you, there are various idiots obtainable that do no longer understand the version. And being in the fast lane would not recommend you could speed, basically that it would not decelerate as plenty because of merging automobiles onto the interstate, (in concept).

Some states do have and do enforce stay right signs. California is one of them. A friend found out the hard way, in addition to a speeding ticket.

The signs usually say "Slower Traffic Stay Right" or "Stay Right Except To Pass" or something along those lines.

I think Doug has the right idea. But I have a problem with people using there cruse control in the left lane and not moveing over for the cars behind them. I think that is what your talking about..

I think signs educating people on highway law and courtesy are a great idea. Most people who drive like idiots just don't know any better. Who educates them? Nobody. That's wrong.

The left lane, its also the favorite of people over 65, they see the sign and the figure its their own personal lane.

If I'm lying, I'm dying. Am I right??????????
