We are getting our kitchen renovated and have chosen cherry coloured cabinets and a dark laminate countertop with flecks of greys and browns in it. What colour floor and backsplash would match? (vinyl floors)

I would go and get a grey tone floor and backsplash tile. Do the floor in tile too, not the vinyl. It is so easy to do... if you were nearby, I'd come do it for you but... go with the ceramic and match the floor to the backsplash in colour... the paint can follow after in any shade you pick to work with the rest.

I am Canadian too!!!! HHHOOO HAAAA!!!!! lol...

Take one of the cabinet doors and a sample of the countertop into your local tile store. Ask to see something either in the Refin series of tiles in the color of Rupe or Grigio. Or check with them to see if they carry the Sonesta series.

The Refin series has different sizes available to be mix/matched or all one size for a backsplash. Would recommend the same series with their larger size of tiles for the floor, not vinyl. Better resale value. And if it's not too late or if you can upgrade down the road, granite countertops are more durable and are a better investment for you should you decide to sell your house in the future.

The backsplash: match the countertop

The floor: white, but not plain white; something with a little mixture of very light gray that makes it look like cut stone

Sounds pretty. Go with a light colored vinyl floor, you don't want to get it too dark. Light colors make a room look bigger, and make it better for resale so I was told.

brown would look good plus wont show dirt as much as lighter colours or a cherry colour to match the cabinets.

I'm so happy to see another Canadian on here!!!!
