It refers to a way of understanding that seems to transcend time and space.

Have you ever met someone and stopped to talk for 5 minutes and suddenly realize you've been talking for an hour?

Do you have a friend that you can go months without seeing and when you're together you start going on like you saw each other yesterday?

Those are kindred spirits. The more 'logical' reasoning is that your brain patterns and cultural circumstances are similar enough that you feel very comfortable.

I like logic but not too much of it. For me who believes in reincarnation when I experience these people it's an instant resonance to the past.. there are people I have been in contact with during many past existances and we seek each other out in some fashion.

For the more "American-Christian-Traditiona... people out there, many of those believe that your souls have been together with God in heaven and that God allows you to keep some of those memories so you have special bonds with people in your life.

Either way, kindred spirits are wonderful and rare.

According to the dictionary. "Person like or in sympathy with oneself" Kindred states. "related, allied or similar' (and then some) according to this, I think it means 2 self centered people thinking alike???? whoop I always thought it ment two of the same kind in spirit. Different yet the same at heart. good question.

Either I have not meet or don't recognize mine yet. There is someone out there that is following in the Holy Spirit along the same path that I journey and we will meet some day.

I believe it enriches your life by having that kind of relationship with someone.
