Like people have said, the antibiotics don't have a negative effect on the immune system. Since you have been ill enough to be given antibioitcs, I would recommend avoiding sick people for a couple of days, just to give your immune system a breather as it were. Its not something you HAVE to do, its not incredibly serious if you do come into contact with sick people, but it would be good to let your body fully recover.

As a healthcare provider I'd say: No, not necessarily. Most people do not have the time to avoid people when they are sick....I don't write people off for 'post illness immune system compromise'. Besides at this point your immune system is functioning at an adequate level

Complete opposite. Antibiotics improve your immune system and make you a little more immune to sicknesses. You may not want to expose yourself to 15 people with the flu but antibiotics improve your system. The sickness that you got over is what had weakened your system.

Not at all. Your immune system is not compromised. The reason you had a course of antibiotics was for an infection, now cured, I hope

Your immune system is not compromised after antibiotics, or rather because of antibiotics.

The antibiotics may have killed off the "good" bacteria in your intestinal/digestive tract, but what lowers your immune system is when you don't have enough white blood cells to fight infection--I believe that is called neutropenia. That is when you can "catch" infection from others.

People on chemo or who have AIDS are often immuno-compromised.

I don't think your immune system is compromised just from taking antibiotics. Antibiotics strengthen your system and help build up antibodies. That's why they help you get better.

Yes, you should. But, your immune system will never recover unless you hekp it.
There are 11 bacteria that live in the human body and they help the body fight off invading bacteeia and viruses. If you want to restore all of those friendly bacteria, go to www.infinity2.com and order Total Body Flora. If you want te lowest price possible, call the toll free number and tell them your sponsor's id is 3290988. I don't make a cent! This stuff saved my life. I share ecause I want others to know.
