There have been some theories put out that the reason people in Western countries have so many allergies is that we are too clean so our immune systems don't develop efficiently. Our immune systems learn to fight things, including allergens, through exposure. However, through the use of cleansers and sanitizers we are being exposed to less of these things as children and ending up with more allergies. This is the theory put forth since they say people in second and third world countries do not have the allergy problems we in the first world nations have.

Me, I am allergic to most fresh produce, anything cooked with the white part of a spring onion, and green peppers. These started developing when I turned 28.

I used to be allergic to a LOT more than that. I outgrew the allergies when I was in college. They still come back every now and then, so I keep generic Claritan in the house.

A few years ago, one of my clients gave me a boatload of shellfish and fresh seafood. I bragged about it to my friends and made sure they knew I was NOT going to share (I did split it with my boyfriend).

When my friends would call, I would tell them that I was eating a lobster omelette for dinner and since I couldn't finish it, I was giving it to the cat.

heh heh heh

That weekend, I broke out in hives so bad, I could barely walk. One of my girls called me and I told her I was having an allergic reaction and she said "When can I come pick it up?"

I said "When I'm dead. I'm taking this meal to the hospital with me." The allergy was hives on my skin, uncomfortable, but nowhere near fatal.

My dear friend said "I hope your throat closes up!"

It has to do with the immune system. Those foods you mentioned are on the top of the allergy scale. Many are allergic to these. Can start as an infant.

No, you have allergies.
I'm allergic to cashews, tea, soy, cinnamon, mint, mustard, tumeric and chicken.
The spices are a real pain in the butt because they dont have to laebl those on the package.
Chicken....oh, I miss chicken.

Those are all very common food allergies. You don't often see people who have all three or even two, but I don't think you have any real problem.

well i read somewhere that it could be because your parents probably didn't expose you to these foods at an early age, or rather your mother stayed away from it while she was pregnant
