on top of the knee on the inside is a teardrop shape muscle that can be developed by doing lunges and squats with your feet parralel
outside the leg is your quad but its attatched at the knee.
squats/or leg presses with your knees slightly pointed outward make sure your toes are in line with your knees to avoid torking and stress on the knee.

Tapping your toes up & down with or with out a weight helps all arrond the knees itself.

I fracture my tibia long ago and one exercize that I had to do to was to sit down with the leg straight, relax and flex the knee, relax and flex the knee. Keep repeating for 15 minutes and hopefullt that will help!!

lift ankle weights--put weights on ankles and lift either sitting down or laying down, builds strong knees and legs.
