more exercise, more fun, less isolation in the yard..... do not leave dog unattended in the yard when you are not around... crate him inside ..... boredom is the cause,, and now it has probably become just a bad habit

Your dog is not being stimulated nearly enough. Can you imagine digging in a yard for excitement? Get your dogs some toys, hop online to find some creative backyard toys, and give your pooch some attention. Back yards are only for times when your dog is going potty and a walk simply isn't possible. Yards are not a place to "store" dogs while you work or play. He needs a crate for sleeping and when he is unattended. Even better- get your dog some training- put some money and effort into keeping this dog forever.

Dogs dig because they are bored. Is your dog trained? Do you take him to an obedience school? How much time do you spend with your dog playing and training? This is the major reason why they dig. If you do not want to spend time with your dog, but still want to keep the dog, lay down the gravel or chain link down on the ground. The best solution is take him to an obedience class, where they teach problem solving, not just teach you basic commands. Its worth the money, time and effort. You guys will be better bonded, and understood through obedience training make your life and your dog life SO MUCH happier. Good Luck.

If he is digging, he's bored. As many have suggested, taking him out more will help him. Do you have time to take him to a park and run wild? Do you have a kennel nearby- we have one that has "doggie day camp" and they exercise dogs whose owners don't have time during the day.

If you're there and can catch him, a shock collar might work but you have to shock him when he starts to dig, not 10 minutes later.

Mostly it just sounds like he needs to get out more. Hope that helps.

when dogs dig up their own territory that means they are depressed, worried and/or bored. take some more time to play with your dog. another idea is to get treats and toys like KONG that will keep your dog rather busy. also try to have your dog socialize more with other dogs to overcome the depression and boredom. good luck

If your dog is digging in the yard, it is BORED. Bring the dog INSIDE with you where it belongs.

Do you love your dog ? For heaven's sake bring him in to be with you. He is acting out. Stop neglecting him poor baby. If you do not have enough time for him find him another home. Give him things to do. Walks play toys...

The dog is simply, bored. It needs something to do. I recommend that you go to Target, and get some rawhide sticks, because that helped my dog a lot!
