Yeah, this one time I drove to New Orleans from my house in Kentucky and I was walking down the street and I heard all of these old people speaking it. The youngins' don't seem to know how to speak it, I guess. I, being fluent in French and all, thought I could talk to some of the people there. So I asked this guy in front of a papaya stand in French how much papayas were. At first he stared at me, so I repeated it. Then he went, "Eh?" So I said it again. I said it like fifty ba-jillion times and then he started going off in some French/Caribbean language. I just walked away, got back in my car, and drove back to Kentucky.

I come from the area and can tell you that Westwego has a ton of people who speak Cajun French. Try the Gator Den Cafe' and visit the Sala Ave Museum.

i live in louisiana and, mais oui, there is cajun french spoken here. not just in new orleans, but all along the southernmost parishes there are many locals who mix it in with their version of english. we call it "coonie".

lake charles, lafayette, and several other southern cities have a small percentage of authentic cajuns who still talk the talk.

you should visit sometime, it's really an experience.

My cousin married someone who speaks it. What do you want to know? That's not the norm here, though. You'd have to go to surrounding areas to hear it.

In the area where I live, we sound like we're from New York. I lived in Connecticut for almost five years, and everybody thought I was from New York! They expected me to have a southern drawl. You need to go to parts of Georgia for that. And around the Carolinas, too, I think.

Do you have a more specific question?

Louisiana is their domicile, yet i've got run right into a pair of them in ATL after Katrina. I observed one with Blue eyes and he grow to be Black, so thats basically an thought of ways diverse all of them look from one yet another.
