The first link is to an EBay item that I think is what you're looking for. I found another bronze piece with a more angular shield.

The last link is to a whole bunch of military style tats and Marines at that; I'm not sure if that's precisely what you're looking for, but there's some great ink in those pages. A few of those pieces had arrows in the claws of the eagle, another classic element.

I found a few pieces with an eagle on top of the shield, but the shield is on the ground. I'm guessing you're looking for a "flying" shield and eagle. I found a few with the shield lying down, but it didn't seem right.

Are you thinking shoulder piece or bigger? A full back would be amazing. Even if the links don't give you precisely what you're looking for, a good artist can take the basic pic & make it work. Get a good artist - you wouldn't skimp on something like this, right?

If you go for it, definitely post to ratemyink.com. I'd like to see how it turns out. Sorry I couldn't specifically find you a tat like this, but an original done with the elements will be better anyhow.

i wouldn't suggest getting a tattoo of a tattoo. find a picture of what you want and take it to a custom tattoo artist. those always seem to come out better than generic tattoos. good for you for having pride and serving in the military! here is a link to a page with the flag and an eagle. i'm sure you can get some kind of inspiration from that. good luck!

No offense but I would consider or prefer an arm or small chest tatoo because the american flag would be too big and the colors would seem to be boring on the back. Maybe you should try a black and bloody red eagle with arrows or prey in its claws. Maybe...

I concur...get your artist to work something up.
A good artist will give you a completely original idea...and not make it just look good...but make it good on your body. Custom work is the way to go.and dont ever want flash art on my skin.
