My younger brother is always complaining that everyone in the family looks down on him but we are just trying to help him. He got a DWI and my parents came to bail him out. My parents even brought him a new car 2 years ago and he still gets money from tthem even though he has a job and is over 18. Since his DWI his been drinking heavily and his under 21 and my parents have taken his car keys. Everyday is a nightmare because his always causing some drama and telling people that his family does not care about him. I feel like I lost my brother, his not the same anymore and his drunk everyday. This means Im stressed out and frustrated all the time. I want to help him but he does not want to change. I dont want to give up so easily because his my brother. What should I do?

just go up to him and give him a hug. Sit him down and tell him you love him and only want the best for him. Tell him you're always there if he needs help. He just needs love and support right now. Also, YOU cant change him and his drinking habits. He has to want to change that hisself. If he wants to keep drinking heavily then thats exacty what he's going to do. But when HE'S ready to stop thats the only time you can help...

He is in the "world owes me a living mode" and there is nothing you can do except let him hit bottom. Stop being there for him (not easy) and let him spend some time in jail the next time. Now is the time for him to learn lifes hard lessons before he has a wife and kids.
