I'll go with trying to convince a different friend to loan you their check. As long as your roommate doesn't actually open the envelope, you only need to fake the part of the check that shows through the window.

I agree this question BEGS for a sarcastic response.

The "$300 penalty for private use" indicia on a genuine tax refund envelope actually only applies to the postage permit. In other words, if you don't actually mail it, the penalty doesn't apply.

WHY FAKE IT? Are you trying to hide the amount from the person who lives with you? How are you going to fake a Treasury Dept check anyway??? That certainly is not possible and seems totally ridiculous to me! Why not just be honest and let the other person know that you already received it?

Sorry, but this just BEGS a sarcastic response! If you don't want a sarcastic reply to a goofy question, DON'T POST IT HERE!

You made your bed. You know what to do with it.

BTW, what part of the "$300 penalty for private use" indicia on a genuine tax refund envolpe do you not understand?

You are making this way too complicated!
Why would she ask if you ever got the letter?
Why not try to be the one to get the mail that day - so that if she ever does ask, you can just say you happened to get it that day.

Wouldn't life be easier if you just play things straight?
