Can group B strep be passed on if you have a c-section? I tested positive with my second child (4 years ago) and my Dr. is doing another test in a week (I am 36 weeks pregnant now). Both of my boys and now my daughter are all c-sections.

I am asking this now because if I tested positive with my second child shouldn't I still test positive now? And if that is the case then why are they testing me again if I was positive before?

I didn't think so, b/c it lives in the vagina but I found that Group B strep can be transmitted if your water breaks prior to your c-section. Although I think this is highly unlikely.

i don`t think so , I believe the bacteria only lives in the vagina, you might want to ask your doctor. i gave birth to all 3 of my children vaginal and i have always tested positive. They are all health. ( 21 weeks prego) congratulations on your fourth baby

No...as Group B is found in the vagina...ask your Dr to be sure...they give you antibiotics anyways to be sure.

No its in the vagina. You should be ok. I am curious though as to why they are checking if you already know you are a C-Section.
