The biggest reason is because there are so few people who like the look of a house that is painted black. This severely limits the number of people who may consider buying the house should you decide to sell it.
Second reason might be the heat gain in the interior of a black house in the summertime. Aie conditioning costs would be much higher for a black house than for a white or light colored house. Even a black roof will result in a much hotter attic than a light colored roof. It would seem that a black house might be cheaper to heat in the winter for the same reasons, but this is not true. While there might be a slight difference, it will not offset the cost of cooling in the summer.

If I had my way, Because of the bright colors people in the area are painting there houses,"Lime Green,Bright Orange,Etc."I told my husband I wanted our house painted Black, with fluorescent hot pink,and fluorescent hot orange circles on it. In the middle of the fluorescent circles, I want to put little strobe lights,flashing ones.Than I want the trim Fluorescent Chartreuse Green,That glows in the dark. Cool, Huh? (Not serious)

Because black is a bad color to have on a house. If someone painted their house black then it wouldn't look good at all.

It would be too much of a contrast to the rest of the neighborhood. Also, certain neighborhoods actually have guidlines where you can't paint your house certain colors. It just depends on where you live.

b/c down here it would get hot as a mfer. And it would look kind of morbid. Theres probably an emo somewhere w/ a black house.

I think generally that black would just not look right for a house.. its not something people are used to, and will look funny..
imagine it.. I wouldnt do it.. would you?
wearing black clothes make you look slim, perhaps houses would look smaller if they are black :) perhaps look unfriendly to the eye as it is not something people are used to ;)

Your house would be really hot, it's tacky, most people are not part of the Addam's Family or Munsters, and it would show any dirt or blemish.

because black absorbs heat and it would be a fortion to pay for the air conditioning

lol not surr... but for the past 4 yrs ive been thinking about that and i kinda want my house to be black now...!and no im not emo or goth...i think lol
