I have filed my FAFSA but how long does it take to get back and what exactly does it tell you?

It doesn't really tell *you* anything, except something called your "Expected Family Contribution," which if it's too high, may mean that you're school will not offer you any financial aid aside from Stafford Loans, which are low-interest, sometimes government-subsidized loans.

The FAFSA (and any other financial info you send your school) tells your school everything they need to know to give you a financial aid award.

I would call the school or, if they have a system for it, check online to make sure they received it and whether they need anymore documents. If they have it, just wait for them to notify you about what kind of financial aid you have been awarded.

the purpose of FAFSA is to help those who need money for college.........the sooner it is filed the better because the more money u will receive......when u know ur EFC, which is the amount ur family can afford to contribute for college, colleges will determine how much they will give in scholarships, loans or/and grants.......it takes weeks to process because all ur colleges have to go through ur FAFSA forms..........its really helpful because without it u cannot receive money for college
