I've been reading a lot about puppies lately because mine was given to me at 5 weeks. Most books recommend 6 to 8 weeks, with 8 being the better choice so the puppy has time to learn many valuable lessons from mom and its litter mates, so I suggest you wait another month. Something valuable I learned is crate train your puppy! It is so much easier to leave puppy in the crate on those times you have to leave it alone, it will be safe and so will your shoes! It's also so much easier to housebreak the puppy because dogs don't like to soil their living and eating spaces.
I wish you the best of luck with your new baby!

You shouldn't take a puppy away from it's litter before it's at least 6 to 8 weeks old. We have a Maltese x Poodle that was taken from his mum too early, and since we got him at 3 months old, he's had a terrible oral fixation that's been very difficult to train out of him. Everything goes in his mouth. you couldn't even pat him without your hand ending up straight in his mouth. This is a big problem when there are kids around. He is now 12 months old and although he is alot better, we still have to watch him around other people and especially young kids. Hope this helps :)

Normally, your puppy needs to be at least 7-8 weeks old and eating, drinking and gaining weight on its own. Do not take this puppy any younger then that.
Forgot to add. We do not let our pommys go to a new home until they are 11-12 weeks old.
You said it was a toy poodle. I think I would wait until it was at least 10 weeks old as it is a smaller breed also.

8 weeks is the legal age. Wait until this puppy is eight weeks old. anyone willing to sell you a puppy (or kitten) younger than that really has no concern with the animals welfare and you shouldnt be dealing with them in the first place. Be patient.
you can also go to your local animal shelter and get a puppy too (even a toy poodle) or put your name on a breed rescue list (google toy poodle rescue groups) and they will let you know when one becomes available in your area.

puppies should never go to a new home before 8 weeks of age. They are barely weaned at 6 weeks old. Taking a puppy from its mother too soon can cause social development problems down the road.

1 month old is wayyyy too young to be separated from her litter. A bare minimum of 8 weeks old is what you want. There is much the puppies learn from one another and their dam if you leave them together for at least 8 weeks.
One of the most important for the puppies is bite inhibition.

Buy another puppy and call the cops on thisfreaking trying to sell you a four week old. That's barely half the age ofthe absolute minimum, and illegal in some states.
8weeks and up, or two months plus.

Puppies are usually just getting where they can eat food well at 6 weeks. Brokers that buy dogs won't take them under 8 weeks old... I don't sell them under 8 weeks. But between 6-8 weeks is okay...

you are about to be scammed...... no such thing as a french poodle... 4 weeks old is way too young.... puppies need to be at least 8 weeks old before you get them,, they should have been wormed and also had their first set of shots... you will want to see the parents,, you will want to see the pups pedigree , you will be looking for Ch.'s in the line on both sides.. you want to see health certificates/clearances for both parents.. you want to see where the pups are living and being brought up ,, you want to know that the pups have been socialized properly and you want a lifetime health guarantee on this pup.... MAKE SURE YOU ARE GOING TO A REPUTABLE BREEDER ( this breeder is not good - as a responsible breeder would NEVER EVER sell a 4 week old puppy) run from this deal
