Google "digital camera reviews" - there are great review sites on line...dpreview.com, dcresource.com, and many others.

If you are a professional photographer you will need state of the art camera/s.

As an artist myself a simple, small camera works fine for taking images.

A sketchbook is best though as it gives you memories of the place that a photograph does not . .mind you I have used a camera 'sketchbook' for years to compliment my drawings.
