I posted on this problem yesterday but my situation has changed a bit. I have been on Effexor Xr for a 15 days now. On Sunday I increased my dose from 75mg to 150mg. That night I started to experience light-headness and veritgo. And then on Monday I fainted. There is a memory gap: I don't remember coming upstairs and going to the kitchen and next thing I know it I was on the floor. I also have blurry vision and I am hearing sounds when there is nothing around. Anyways, my doctor says it's because I am anorexic and I know I'm not. I am not trying to lose weight and I know I'm on the slim side but I have always been this way. (I am 18 years old, 5'6'' and 117lbs) Should I be concerned about Effexor Xr?

I would be concerned. I was on Effexor XR, at a high dose, for years. I too had auditory hallucinations, and had a lot of strange neurologic side effects - including memory lapses. I've been completely off it for a long time - the first 2 months of withdrawal were terrible, but now feel completely normal. You should check out the FDA website re: this drug - there is some interesting info. I'm not a fan of Effexor at all - scary stuff.

Get a new doctor. Whether you're anorexic and whether you are on the right antidepressant are 2 completely different, but very important questions. The dizziness and fainting sound like common side effects that could go away as you get used to the medicine. The hallucinating is pretty scary, though. If you can't get an appointment with a dr. right away, go into a drug store and ask to speak to the pharmacist. I have done that before and they can be really helpful.

I was on Effexor 75mg and had no problem but yes you should get a second opinion!!

Definitely get a second opinion...it sounds like the meds to me.
