Being a mobile DJ with a nightclubs worth of large equipment I tend to use a lot of plug sockets to power up my gear.

I usually do not have enough extensions to plug all the stuff in I have bought, but recently I visited a venue that had a multitude of sockets on the walls (around 20). Can you overload the mains electricity in a building or is that impossible? I don't want to be the one reponsible for the bill!

WHEW! ~ before I read the rest of your question, I thought "WHAT!....is someone trying to find out how to disable the U.K. on Yahoo Answers, for crying out loud?"

I can see I was a little hasty on that one. Yes, it is always possible to blow the mains, as they say; but any venue accustomed to entertainment requiring a lot of power will have, one hopes, taken that into consideration ahead of time.

The 20 or so sockets you saw recently suggests this ..... BUT....I think you are very wise to be concerned, and it might not be a bad idea to have in writing, if possible, what load any venue you are going to work can carry. It is always the best policy to tell them in advance that you require this or that much power, rather than leaving it to chance.

If they don't know, then they are idiots, and if you have protected yourself by having some verifiable way of proving that you made your needs known ahead of time.....they don't have a leg to stand on.

And, more importantly of course, the whole affair will not become a ghastly nightmare, your reputation will stay intact, and a good time will be had by all!

Sounds like you have one hell of a sound system.....Good luck.
