I've read other answers to questions like this, but I don't get enough information.
I have thick black hair and I was looking for a home remedy to remove product buildup. I read that apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, and beer work. How often do I wash my hair with it? How much do I use?
I just bought some Aussie products and to make sure they moisturize my hair, I need to get rid of buildup. I don't think I need a clarifying shampoo that much because I don't use anything on my hair except shampoo and conditioner.
Also, for clarifying shampoos, how often should you use it? Can anybody help me?

I'm not such an expert on hair or beauty, so I'm not sure if I have that much buildup. I have flakes though that doesn't always seem to be dandruff, and I've researched it. People say that it could be product buildup. It's just that my hair has no moisture, and I was wondering if it was because of the buildup. Also, I used to use Pantene Pro-V everyday, and people say that could also cause the buildup.
I was going to buy clarifying shampoo but I hear it really dries out your hair. My hair is already dry enough. I was just wondering if clarifying shampoo was used often.

The aussie shampoo really helped me. When I first read your question that was going to be what I suggested right away, but I see you got it. That's a good first step. Also, don't use the baking soda and lemon juice too often. I would say once every few weeks. . . also, the lemon juice can change the color of your hair, so make sure to rinse really well.

When people use clarifying shampoos, it's normally product buildup they want to remove--if you don't use them, what kind of buildup are you trying to remove? A clarifying shampoo will work on any type of buildup, and is probably what you want. Suave makes a good one, I use it when I'm getting my hair ready to color. You can put baking soda in regular shampoo too, that will give you the same effect. If you really have a problem with buildup (and it doesn't really sound like you do), once a week will do.

Try mixing equal amounts of brown sugar and conditioner and massaging your scalp. Then rinse and let the mixture run through the rest of your hair. It smells so good and removes product buildup and cleanses the scalp. However if all you are using is shampoo and conditioner there isn't any product buildup to remove...
