I currently own a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis GS with 56,000 miles on it and have about 3 more years of payments at 288.00 a month. I found a car I like a lot its a 2003 Volkswagen Passat 1.8t with a five speed manual loaded with heated seats etc...with 45,000 miles and a full warranty untill 100,000 miles. My payments would be 290.00 a month for 5 years if I bought the VW. Or I could keep the Grand Marquis. Which car should I get and which one sounds nicer? Thanks for the help!

I would keep the car you have. What sounds nice to me is probably not what sounds nice to you, but having your car paid for in three years is definitely better than having it paid for in five. Volkswagen's are also not that cheap to maintain. Here's another thought. You've owned the Marquise for only a few years and already you want another car, so you buy the VW and in two years you want another car. What is going to happen is that your loan will be getting bigger and bigger because every time you trade a car in you get hosed and you never get the loans paid off because you are always trading in the cars. The impact on your lifestyle by keeping what you have is substantial and worthy of your serious consideration

I would check with your insurance first to be sure, but if you can trade straight and your only problem will be a $2 increase on your payment for a couple more years, the VW is by far more reliable.

I drove a 1987 vw golf until the odometer reading was 297,000 miles, no kidding. Them things drive forever lol, likely might increase your mpg a bit, and they're right peppy and fun to drive, mine had that same 1.8 litre engine, they can boogie decently with it and they are tough little cars.

Only thing is, you HAVE to change the oil every 3,000 miles, there's not much else to it but you have to change the oil or you will get skru'd lol be religious about it and she'll run and run and run... Premium unleaded helps also, is what I always ran, but make sure to always change the oil every 3k, if that's all you do lol.
