Well my grandmother used to say that the best form of birth control she had ever heard of was aspirin. You put an aspirin pill between your thighs, hold it there and don't ever let it hit the ground. Can't really spread your legs apart with that little trick, can you?
In all seriousness, you have abstinence, aka pure mental willpower to control raging hormones. In my opinion, relying on abstinence doesn't work...because very rarely anymore do people abstain from sexual contact until they are married. Preach it all you want to...it's been done for decades, and there is still a high birth rate. Why/ Because parents and educators just simply say "Don't do it." and let that be the end of story. They don't tell kids why they shouldn't do it, why it is best to wait. If they get into the whys, then then they simply say if you do it, you will get pregnant or an STD. What they don't realize is that today, just as yesterday, and for generations before, adoloescents think they are 10 feet tall and bullet proof...the bad stuff won't happen to them. "Just because Sally got pregnant at 16 doesn't mean I will."
And guess what...that pushing of abstinence is not working. Why? Kids don't have a good reason to abstain from sex...they have "maybes" and that's it. No one teaches them self respect. No one goes into that it's important to wait because virginity is the one thing you have at birth that once given away, you cannot get back. No one teaches that with sex comes responsibility, not just for the risk of babies and herpes, so to speak...but the responisibilty to be able to handle the emotions and the after effects of sex.
Long story short...self respect, open candid communication, a real education of sex (not just the scare tactics used by so many parents, educators and religious authorities) and proper birth control...that's what it will take...that, and a prayer that something will sink in and your kid will think twice before crossing that line.

I was being responsible i was using the patch and condoms and somehow my little girl is here today but i am blessed and thankful. I believe we should let them see what sex can really do i mean its not just a feel good time anymore, sex hurts peoples feelings, (mostly young teen girls who have different feelings then boys) it can also give you nasty things such as STDS(i believe we should let kids see pictures of people who have those things and let them take in what it looks like and what it does!) And sex can also kill you if you think about it. AIDS..
I believe we should tell them being a teen mother isnt what its cracked up to be. I would love to go out one day of the week and just hang out with friends but i cant i have a 18 month old little girl to take care of but i dont care anymore cause i would be in so much **** without her!

There are a lot of ways to prevent teenage pregnancy, but the most efficient one is not having sex.

The sure fire way not to get pregnant, no matter what the age is to not have sex. Aside from that, use protection. But if you are going to have sex, you need to know, there is no way to totally prevent pregnancy.

I was a teen mom myself and I have to say that there really is no way to prevent it. But you can educate your kids on sex and what the risks are. Just teach them to be safe. I know it's an uncomfortable conversation to have but it may help.

Celibacy and awareness. Families need to stop pushing their kids to have kids. Parents do not discuss options, they just want a grandbaby and do not care what daddy they come from. Nor do they think about their daughters future with a baby. Parents in that situation are very selfish and ignorant.

Be open with your kids...if you suspect they are having sex don't criticize them...just tell them that you don't like what they are doing but if they are going to continue to please use protection. But abstinence if the best prevention...the only problem is that not everyone will stay abstinent. So the other best prevention is birth control i.e the pill, the shot, condoms.

Abstinence....honestly, it's the only thing guarenteed to work. Other then that you can try Depo (the shot), birth control pills, IUD, and of these with a combination of a condom would work best...well almost.
