1st women in islam are free to decide wether to work or not, and this law of inherintence is due to no matter how wealthy a woman is, there will always be some1 to support her financially. its not like in western countries a woman has no choice but to support herself, and usually faces this world by herself, in islam its an obligation for men to support women financially, her father does that till she gets married, then its the husband duty, if the husband dies, the father is obligated again to support his daughter, if not then its her brother, or her uncle, and so forth.
on the other hand, there is no1 obligated to support the man in any case, thats y he inherits more (because he needs it!)
and if u really look at this rule, ull realise how beautiful and complete islam is, and how honorable to women as its her right to NEVER be left alone, and if this law is applicable in all countries, u wouldnt have found single mums, or lost girls having no1 to go to!

first you should know that Law of Islam is based on The Holy Quran and Sunnah. when this rule is put it looks to the woman from two sides ...
1- before Islam appears , women had no right of inherition after their husbands' death .... So Islam give them a right that wasn't even present
2-A daughter inherits more than a mother of a dead father so why don't you ask about the right of mothers .
this is not the point
what i want to say is that islam looks for the need for money not the right of having equal parts of the inheritance
and for what you said about women work .... I should say what is said before that women has the right whether to work or not
On the other hand the widow woman have the chance to get married after her husband death so the new husband will be fully responsible to fulfill her financial needs so what is her need for alot of money ???
the widow man also have the chance to get married after his wife's death but in this case he will have new financial encumbrances concerning his wife and childs if he dosen't get married .... !! So doesn't he in a great need of money more than a widow woman ???
I think It's clear now

May the peace, blessing and mercy of God be upon you
You have a few misunderstandings, we will fix this God willing.
Firstly, a widow in Islam is taken care of by the ENTIRE community. The Governments give Widows money, (this happened to my Aunt when my Uncle died of kidney failure in Pakistan) As well as relatives, we are obligated to 2.5% of our annual income in charity of which it is supposed to go to needy family members first.
Secondly, prior to Islam. Women didn't inherit ANYTHING. That is to say Pagan Arab women did not recieve any inheritance. Rather the brothers or other relatives would take it.
As for inheritance laws, a daughter inherits half the share of her brother. Because the daughter will be taken care of by her husband, the brother however will have to take care of his family.
I suggest you read this page,
http://www.islam101.com/sociology/inheritance.htm
"By specifying clear cut entitlement and specific shares of female relatives, Islam not only elevated the position of women but simultaneously safeguarded their social and economic interests as long ago as 1400 years. The Quran contains only three verses [4:11, 4:12 and 4:176] which give specific details of inheritance shares. Using the information in these verses together with the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) as well as methods of juristic reasoning, the Muslims jurists have expounded the laws of inheritance in such meticulous detail that large volumes of work have been written on this subject."
This means there are Scholars of Islamic Jurisprudence who specialize into just Inheritance laws since there are many possible scenarios.
Look what a British Scholar had to say about the Inheritance laws....
"The divine justness and equitability of the Islamic laws of inheritance have been correctly appreciated by many non-Muslim scholars such as Professor Almaric Rumsey (1825-1899) of King's College, London, the author of many works on the subject of the Muslim law of inheritance and a barrister-at-law, who stated that the Muslim law of inheritance, "comprises beyond question the most refined and elaborate system of rules for the devolution of property that is known to the civilised world.1"

the irony of this is that the reason why many Muslim women don't work is because they don't have to.
You see in Islam the women are always taken care of whatever it is by her father (before she get married..if she does get married, by her husband..if she gets married, by her grandfather, by her uncle..or by any male supporter.) So really this rule is to help women. That is why they don't inherit as much as men because the money and property men inherit really goes to his wife/daughter/mother for food, housing, clothing, water, and anything she needs. All the money the man makes/inherit goes to his mom (if his father is dead), definitely his wife and to all of his family (sons and daughters)
I mean the woman is always supported with money so she doesn't have to work. But she still has all the rights to work and earn her own money. The money she makes is her own money and does not need to give it to her husband, father, brother or anyone unless she wants to.
So if her husband dies then she is supported by her father, if her father dies then she is supported by an uncle or grandfather, brother or some male relative or family friend.
So really Muslim women don't need to work, which is why many of them don't because they will always be getting money from someone.
But dont forget that if the women want to work then they are allowed to just as much as men do. In fact in the Quran it encourages women to work.
i hoped i helpped
God Bless

this law is not discrimination you've to know that before Islam woman was not allowed to inherit from her husband or any one else even she was like a heritage but Islam has give her her rights's and the reason why she tike's less than her husband because man have too many responsibility and if he has children from that women he will take less (only quarter) so women take less because she doesn't have a lot of responsibility and if she have children they inherit from there father so she won't have to spend her heritage

as infantrymen interior the protection stress they get to confirm an excellent sort of issues interior the Muslim worldwide places like a husband accusing his spouse of cheating an taking photos her interior the line and no person doing something or a muslim attempting to purchase a woman soldier off of her unit with some livestock. That final one substitute into humorous, the 1st one substitute into truly undesirable.

You almost had an acceptable argument until you said that women in Islam don't usually work. Muslim women do work and I would love to know what your source is for that little tidbit of info.
