The Traditional 1st wedding anniversary gifts are made of Paper. A Modern 1st wedding anniversary symbol is a Clock.

The Gemstone associated with this Anniversary is Fresh Water Pearls and the flowers appropriate for this year are Pansies

Paper can be just about anything - photographs, a book with special meaning, concert tickets, a love letter, etc. If you have things from your first year of marriage such as photos, postcards, notes, ticket stubs, etc., you can combine them all in a nice journal with a few personal notes and memories about your first year of marriage. It will really be something special in the years to come.

You could also plan a weekend getaway to a special place and use a map as the "paper" part of the gift.

If you want to go modern, a nice watch is a good gift, especially if you have the back engraved. You could also get a fancy clock for your living room if you're so inclined.

what about redoing a date that you've done in the best that you had a lot of fun on? did u go to an awesome restaurant and then see a movie? watch the same movie now on dvd??! how about a nice simple ring for his left hand?? does he play soccer or something? get him a new tracksuit. My hubby said the suit i bought him last year was one of the best gifts i bought him! (wasnt even that expensive!) oh, and i got him a nice soccer bag w/ it. How about a really nice chair he can call his own (leather)??
i dont know!... but good luck!

heheh sounds like me!! v been with my hubby for 8 years and our 1 year is next weekend (april first). they say traditional gifts for 1 year is paper and modern is clocks. a nice watch or something like that would work, if he wears them. i actually just found out that we are expecting our first baby, so im going to give him this really cute picture frame that says smiles for daddy, with a picture of the positive test in it. pictures are paper right? im also going to find him a book on being a daddy. so it goes with the paper theme of the one year anniversary.
a book maybe that hes been wanting would work too, if you wanted to go the traditional route. or how about a nice dinner out or at home. something romantic. sometimes its better than a gift.

For my 1st my now ex took us to a B&B for a weekend get away. I think I got him a gift certicicate to a comic book store.. I know maybe it doesn't sound like they even out that he got me a better gift but he sure thought his was amazing! Just keep in mind what your husband likes and if there is anything he has hinted at trying.. like maybe he wants to go skiing or wants to take a fishing trip or a camping trip or something.. just figure something out that wouldn't be a normail thing but would be a fun one time thing that if both of you like could turn into more!

We simply celebrated our one million 12 months anniversary at an overly first-class lodge in Ocean City Maryland (the seashore). We went to a relatively first-class dinner and I took our cake, our solidarity candle (at the side of a ton of different candles, and I even used my marriage ceremony night time undies. The lodge gave us a bottle of Champagne and a dozen crimson roses.

Best thing you can get him? yourself. Just you, and him havin a romantic dinner along @ sunset. That's my advice. :-) you don't always have to buy a gift for someone. :-) My girlfriend doesn't know it yet...but once we get our own apartment, which I HOPE has a fireplace in the bedroom, I plan to propose to her in front of a fire @ sunset. :-)
