A friend and I got into an argument over which is the overall better subwoofer. He says the L7 will out pound the IDMAX anyday, which I dont know if thats true or not. I say that the IDMAX will provide huge amounts of bass, but still has a much higher SQ than the L7. Any help is appreciated. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

people who have never heard the IDMAX shouldnt answer. cause they have no clue what there beloved L7 is up against. the truth of the matter is, its up against a woofer that would beat its a*s.
the IDMAX sounds better, hits harder, and will go much lower thent he L7. it wouldnt even be a contest. the only people who buy the L7 are the idiot kids that go into Circut City without hearing any other woofer, and decide they want the most expensive thing there. and what really get them is that unlike most woofers its square. which kicker says it gives you more cone space, but realistically it makes the woofer less effient. if it was really better i very much doubt anyone would use a round woofer any longer. but the fact is everyone still does. kicker has something "new" and because of this they sell. if the square, or any other shape for that matter, was a better design then you would see brands like B&W (B&W are home audio speakers used by THX, Lucas Film, Sony Music, and Abby Road studio's for those that dont know) would have gone to the square long ago.
ok sorry back on topic, if your buddy was compairing the IDMAX to the Solo x instead of the L7 he would probably be right. but the IDMAX would still sound much much better, and i doubt it would be a total blowout.

Ive own both subs. Two IDMAX V.3 D4 12 in a ported box in my 2012 camaro.. And I have two Kicker L7s 15s in a ported box in my 95 impala... I can say this those L7s do pound but the Image Dynamics sound a lot better and those twelves can scare you got city ordinance tickets to prove it. Idmax the way to go. L7s still look cool and they do get loud but overall sq is okay.

never heard the idmax but L7s are some of the hardest hitting subs out there, so id put my money on the L7s

Image Dynamics will sound better ,and play a wider range of frequency
people that believe kicker l7 is the best is because they never hear anything besides kicker,pioneer,mtx or the flea marquet stuff

I dont have any first hand experience with the IDMAX, but from what I have heard/ been told they are fricken beasts!

put them side by side and you decide. personally i like the L7's. its what i use and to me it sounds great.
