My sisters, my parents, and I painted hard boiled Easter eggs the day before Easter. In the morning, the Easter bunny had hid our baskets somewhere in the house, so our first task was to find our basket. After that we ate candy, and had a light breakfast. my parents hid plastic eggs outside if te weather was nice, or inside if it was rainy. My sisters and I would then race to find the most eggs. Our initials were written on all the eggs, and after they were sorted, we all had an equal amount. Some of the eggs contained money or candy, but most contained puzzles that my mother made. After the puzzle was solved, we got a prize. The solved puzzle told us what the prize would be. We also had a late lunch/early dinner of artichokes, since they are in season that time of the year. It was the only time of the year we ate artichokes, so it was a special treat.

New dress, shoes and a hat (when I was younger, in the 60s). Went to Easter Liturgy - it's totally beautiful in our Ukrainian Catholic faith. After a short bit of the service inside, the whole congregation goes outside the church in procession, carrying banners and crosses and singing in Ukrainian - then there's a really cool part where the priest goes and knocks on the church door three times with his cross - and then there is joyous singing as everyone re-enters the church since Christ is Risen. Still sends chills down my spine, though not all churches go outside anymore. I remember being so thrilled when I was old enough, a teen, to carry one of the big banners - on a pole three times as tall as I was, with a fabric banner with a holy picture on it, in the procession. After church, having a big family dinner.
However, my favorite tradition still is getting the Easter basket ready for blessing, full of traditional Ukrainian foods which each symbolize something to do with Easter - two special Easter breads, eggs, butter, cheese, onion, horseradish, meats, etc. You put them in a beautiful basket, with a special embroidered cover and a candle. Everyone puts their baskets together and lights the candles, and there is a special blessing and singing done. It is MOST beautiful and awesome!
Also, we have the tradition of making Ukrainian Easter Eggs (pysanky).

Having an Easter outfit for Church, waking up to an Easter basket and getting to search for plastic eggs filled with candy and change(money), having a nice dinner after church. I always loved Easter because that meant Spring was here!
