Don't follow what you've been brought up to think or are told to think.
If you feel that you want to be a religious person, decide for yourself, weighing each one up on it's own merits.
People will respect you more for making your own mind up.

It depends on what you would like, when my family moves into a new town and we try to find a church we look in the yellow pages. You can go to a church you saw in a yellow pages book for a day and see how you like it, if you don't like what they talk about or you don't really feel comfortable there, you can try a different church the next week! Now, it is completely normal for a person to attend church without family! I see a lot of people like that at my church! Now, I go to a Baptist church (Christian religion), you can try that kind of church out, just an option. Now, a sign of a good church is that they treat you like family, but that won't happen the first day unless you try to get involved and talk to some people.

Of course it would be fine for you to attend by yourself. The Church is for all people, regardless of family situation. That is very cool that you have become spiritual and have begun to educate yourself in spiritual matters. I had a friend that did the same thing, but with Mormonism. He checked out all the books and scriptures of the Mormon faith at the library and then called up and spoke with a member about going. Whatever you have found to be true, and whatever brings you happiness, I would go with it. Religion, most of all, is a personal thing. Good luck.
Also, not to be critical, but I wouldn't consider Catholicism to be "modern moderate Christianity." Nonetheless, enjoy!

You should be accepted by the people regardless of what you wear or if you have a family. Christ loves you and accepts you for who you are. I encourage you to attend the church of your choice and let them become your family. If you find that one church does not meet your needs certainly look at another one. Read your Bible and make sure what they teach coincides with God's word and you'll be a great follower. Love in Christ-Dawn

come across a "mainline" church. that could incorporate Presbyterian (u . s .,) Episcopalian, United Methodist and Lutheran (ELCA.) Or, you will possibly flow Catholic, yet i think that is not going to attraction to you. the country is a loose u . s .. all people can start up-up a "church." there is the Church of the Sacred, Holy, Apostolic, 4 sq. Bible-Believing sopping wet interior the Blood Church of God in Christ, integrated, ...then there is the real Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster... ...or you could look for out what's to be got here across interior the mainline, it fairly is the mainstream of the church interior the broader experience of the be conscious. i'm Presbyterian Church (u . s .,) yet i don't like it plenty. there is no suited denomination, although. Why do not I swap? i'm an ordained Minister. that is not all undesirable, actually. yet of direction, my perspective is colored via the certainty that i'm interior the area the place i come across myself---a pastor. while i'm out of city, and that i could be a popular church-goer, i look for an Episcopal Church. The Presby. Church (u . s .) helps a lot of type while it includes the "style" of the Sunday worship. I lead a provider on Sunday morning it fairly is extra formal and solid and predictable. different Presby. (u . s .) church homes "sense" extra "Baptist-y." all of us comprehend the prefer for a private relationship with the Lord. do exactly not forget approximately that "salvation" isn't plenty approximately THAT as that could be a controversy of self-denial and repair to others. this type of overly-privatized "Christianity" it fairly is elementary interior the country forgets and omits the social length of the religion. God bless you. ---JFM.

There's only one church of Jesus Christ.
Avoid a church where the State is the head. You'll recognize it because it will have a 501(c)(3) tax exemption.
Here are the ten commandments handed down by the 501(c)(3) church’s new lord, the State:
I.Thou shalt not attempt to influence legislation either directly or indirectly.
II.Thou shalt not talk to legislators about legislation
III.Thou shalt not engage in activities related to non legislative decisions, such as opposing or supporting the issuance of regulations
IV.Thou shalt not make available the results of nonpartisan studies
V.Thou shalt not respond to requests to testify before legislative committees
VI.Thou shalt not support or oppose political candidates
VII.Thou shalt not engage in partisan political campaign activities
VIII.Thou shalt not distribute partisan "voter education" information
IX.Thou shalt not attempt to persuade the public one way or the other on candidates or issues
X.Thou shalt not allow groups or individuals to use your facilities and equipment to campaign for candidates
In short, a 501(c)(3) “church” cannot freely preach Christ, His Kingdom or His Truth. They must honor first and foremost the prince of this world, his kingdom and his lie. They have removed the armour of a Christian (Eph 6) and have turned their swords into plowshares before the vicory is won. Being unarmed and vulnerable, they are a liability to Christ’s purpose to assault the gates of the enemy. As Joshua hamstrung the puposes of God by making a covenant with the Gibeonites, so have these hamstrung the purposes of God by making a covenant with the enemy of our souls. I’ve heard it said that “healthy sheep reproduce”, but these have made themselves eunichs in Christ’s flock. Matt 22:14 says “many are called, but few are chosen”, but of these it can truly be said that many are cold, and a few are frozen.

The Catholic Church as an RCIA program, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, which will help you become acquainted and educated about the Church. I recommend you call a parish near you and find out when you can attend the classes.

The fact that u never grew up in a Christian home is irrelevant. The church is BASED on newcomers, new souls, etc. Just research and find one that u feel comfortable with and that u feel feeds your soul. U can wear a suit or shorts n t-****. Basically COME AS U ARE!!!....

Although many families do go to church together, I do not know of any church that only likes families to attend. I am LDS, and I know that I have never once seen anyone discouraged from coming, because they came alone.
