I've never felt a sweaty cat, but I never really see them pant like dogs either. It's been bugging me.

Cats pant also, when they get hot enough. They also sweat through their paws. They tend to find cool places to lay, and sprawl out there. And cats are always grooming themselves, and that licking can act very similar to sweat. As their saliva dries off of their fur, they cool down.

Cats pant just like dogs do, but the drool factor is missing. Cats sweat through their paw pads, but when the weather is hot you can count on the cat to find the coolest place to hide out. Mine would just go down in the basement and lay on the cool cement floor.

Cats sweat through their paws AND nose pads, but their fur is actually very good insulation from the heat as well as cold. Their rate of respiration is higher than humans and the air travelling in and out of the lungs helps to cool them. If they're panting or salivating, they're overheating.

Cats can pant too, if you get them hot enough. My cat is extremely playful, and she has exerted herself to the point of flopping down in the floor and panting before. It's really funny to watch, but it doesn't happen that often.

Cats sweat through the pads of their paws. Sometimes you will even notice when a cat is scared or sweating they will leave little wet paw prints.
