Well when Adam sinned all of mankind sinned. Sin is the cause for the effect of death. We are all already guilty of sin and death can come to anyone at anytime in the form of sickness, natural disasters, or anything that causes death. The reason why bad things usually happen to good people is that Satan is allowed to try to tempt them, but God will only let Satan tempt you to where you would be able to resist. Read the book of Job; it is a great story. Bad people usually have better lives and have it easy because Satan does not need to tempt them for they are already lost unless then turn to God and ask for salvation. That is why hard times make a stronger person.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them...
Its similar to the phrase - "what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger". If God let's bad things happen to me (which I will gladly add - he does, and seemingly more than others) -- I have every reason to trust that He has a plan to help me grow and be more like Christ (aka a better person). We don't have to be perplexed when bad things happen - we can rejoice and be assured that God will help as He has promised. simple and plain. i might add - that he does...:o)

I don't think it's a case of God letting bad things happen as it is people no't doing anything to prevent them, when they have the resources but squander them on frivolous things or hedonistic pursuits (smoking, drinking and gambling instead of cancer research, for instance).

It is called freewill, he lets it happen however in the end those who done wicked will ultimately answer to God. God is slow to anger but rich in mercy but will not relent in the punishment of the wicked. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Freewill is great because we can do both good and evil but at a great price. Jesus is the answer accept him as your savior. Things on earth are going to get allot worse than now but Christ and God will obliterate evil forever and usher an age of peace.

If you can end all the evil, wars, murder, rape, etc but in doing so you would have to end mans ability to choose would you do it?
You dont have to answer the question, God has!, He has picked Free Will. Evil doesnt come from God but is the result of peoples choices. Free will is more valuable to God than the absence of evil. Unless God denies us our freedom of choice evil will ALWAYS exist. Ending humanity the way we know it would be much more cruel than ending all the evil the world CHOOSES to do.

The bible says that God is angry, jealous and vengeful. The ancient people knew this. Why do modern Christians feel they have to pussyfoot around this? God lets bad things happen because he wants to.

We need to stop blaming God for bad things, asap! Anything bad in our lives, whether we recognize it as bad or not came by way of satan. We have no one but ourselves to blame!
