New Orleans was rated as one of the top destinations in the world for 2007 by both Orbitz and Travel+Leisure. There are many misconceptions since the hurricane, but I've been down 4 times and have a great time each time. The great thing about New Orleans is it has something for everyone. If you like to party you can do so 24/7 on Bourbon Street, if you like to gamble you can do that 24/7 also at Harrahs just steps from the historic French Quarter, which has an amazing history. It's also a family friendly destination too. There's the aquarium and zoo, both rated in the top 5 in the country. Also there's too many museums to name, they include the national World War II museum, the Children's Museum, New Orleans Museum of Art, and even Ripleys. Ghost tours to "cities of the dead" are available, so are informational carriage rides. Taking a boat along the mighty Mississippi is fun too...or just stroll along it and feel the breeze in a beautiful park along the river. Shop for world class antiques and artwork at the shops along Royal street, visit an ecclectic shop on Magazine, or upscale granduer at the Shops at Canal place. What I have mentions so far is just a small sampling of all there is to do, and not even the best part. The best part is the food. It's some of the best you've ever had. There are restuarants from down home to fine dining. Music is also an integral part of any trip. There's so much live music around, it's hard to choose where to go. The best part about visiting New Orleans is you're truly helping out. Tourism is vital to the city's economy and just by having fun you're helping the city recover.

Very open ended question, as it depends on what you like to do in terms of activity. Plus you did not mention budget and if you like outdoors, culture, food or other things.

The world is your oyster and depending on what you like to do, your budget and what you can do that will assist in helping with a determination.

I always love Italy and Japan.
