Why do you think the world cries tolerance instead of right and wrong anymore.

I believe George Washington is an excellent example of how faith and religious tolerance can go hand in hand. Washington was a man of faith, but he had great respect for the beliefs of others and recognized freedom of religion as one of the most important basic rights of man. In a letter to Baptists in Virginia, Washington wrote, "no one will be more zealous than myself to establish effectual barriers against every species of religious persecution." Though a Protestant himself, Washington appointed Roman Catholics to important positions and spoke out against anti-Catholic prejudice. In a letter to a Jewish congregation in Rhode Island, he said the United States gives to religious "bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance." To American Quakers he wrote, "the liberty enjoyed by the people of these states, of worshiping Almighty God agreeably to their consciences, is not only among the choicest of their blessings, but also of their rights."

For George Washington, tolerance did not conflict with his faith. To the contrary, in his view, true faith required respect for the rights of others.

Bingo, I sincerely believe that this word "tolerance" is used to shut people up on their most sincere beliefs. For example believing that Jesus is the way to salvation. You can rest assured that many people would consider a statement like that "intolerant". You know that trend when people were labeling wheather things were politically correct or not. This same effort for censorship still exists although much more covert and subtle, and as a consequence much more lethal. Since many people aren't aware of what's happening. Make no mistake about it folks, this is an attack on your free speech rights. Censorship violates the first amendment. But this doesn't stop legislators such as Waxman from California from trying to take away your right to speak your mind. BTW the media may ignore it but the people know there is a right and wrong.

Because many wish to make most everything a gray area.
And, yes, politically correct. As a rule, a republican, Christian is intolerant. A democrat, liberal, Christain or not, is tolerant.
But the first step is to make the issue something other then what it is. And then make the people involved, "victims" and so if you do not except these victims, then you are not tolerant. I have been called a racist because of my views on homosexuality, and here I didn't even know they were all a different race an I am. Used to only be intolerant on the subject, but since they have been assigned as "victims" of something, well now I'm a racist.

Right and Wrong are very important. But who is to determine right and wrong? The Christians or Muslims? The Baptists or Methodists? The literalsists or the symbolists? Tolerance is essential to display if we desire to look into the matters of right and wrong, and can be open-minded enough to realize that we may not have all the answers...and somebody else may have an answer that we do not know. Blessings in the Light of Christ!

Because you can still have tolerance in a world of right and wrong. Tolerance means acceptance of others, to not condemn them. More often than not, the people who think they are right, are wrong.

Christians cannot be trusted to determine what is right or wrong because Christians have never know the meaning of the word tolerence. Millions of innocent people have been killed in the name of "right" which in retrospect has proven to be wrong.

yes it is tolerance for what God Hates. tolerance to the liberals is a one way street they demand tolerance but when I speak the truth of God they silence me and denounce me as a hater. God does not tolerate Sin end of point. the Bible is not a buffet in which you pick and choose what i want as sin and what I want as not sin that is being a false teacher and false teachers shall be accursed. tolerance to the liberals is translated to Requisitioned acceptance

because people don't always have a clear definition of right and wrong anymore. what is "right" may seem relative. all we can do is get used to it and go on with the 21st century.

Hmm... lets think....what causes more war?

Learning to accept, respect, and tolerate differences or declaring "that person is wrong, so lets force them to behave the way we think is right"?

Think about it.
