Put oil in a warm skillet and let it heat a little.Sprinkle a little salt in.Then crack the egg and slowly put it in the oil.Take as the egg cooks and splash the hot oil on the egg until the white is cooked but not hard. The egg should easily come out and slide onto the plate.Remember the yolk will not be hard but loose.Enjoy over grits and a biscuit to boot.

Dan J got it plain and simple. May use a little Peanut Oil or Butter. I use a low heat so I not have to keep a close eye on it. Cover and wait about 3-5 minutes depending. Usually I can start Bacon, and get Toast started and then the egg on low and it all ready about the same time.

Fy the egg but don't flip it. The yolk will be on the top side, therefore, it's "sunny-side up".
