I am grilling steaks tonight and I can't think of any good side dishes. I'm tired of making the old ones...corn, potato salad, beans, etc. Any suggestions?

Here are some side dishes that go along really well with a steak:

Potato Salad

Baked Beans

Baked potatoes or french fries

A nice salad with veggies and salad dressing

Corn on the cob

Green Beans

Mashed Potatoes with or without gravy

That is all of the different side dishes that I think would taste good with your steak, good luck on your decision!! ;-)

We always have mushrooms and onions on our steaks and this way tastes the best.

Grilled Vidalia Onions & Mushrooms

INGREDIENTS
5 sweet onions
1 package button mushrooms (white)
1 (16 ounce) bottle Italian-style salad dressing

DIRECTIONS
Preheat an outdoor grill for low heat and lightly oil the grate.
Cut the onions into 1/2 inch slices. In a large bowl or ziplock bag, combine the onions and mushrooms with the dressing, cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to 1 hour. Cook over low heat, turning onions once, to desired tenderness. Watch the mushrooms closely to make sure they don't shrivel/burn too much. Apply more dressing, if desired.

and

Grilled Sweet Potatoes with Apples (4 servings)

INGREDIENTS
2 large sweet potatoes, sliced
1 apple - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
ground cinnamon to taste
white sugar to taste
1/2 cup butter

DIRECTIONS
Preheat an outdoor grill. In a bowl, toss the sweet potato and apple slices with the cinnamon and sugar. Divide the mixture into 4 portions; place each on a large piece of aluminum foil. Top each with an equal amount of butter. Tightly seal foil around each portion. Place foil packets on the grill, and cook 40 minutes, turning every 5 to 10 minutes, until potatoes and apples are tender.

You could make garlic spaghetti. Boil spaghetti in salted water. Make a garlic butter sauce...just melt a stick or more of butter(depending on how much you like), mince 2-3 garlic cloves, and sautee in the butter for a few minutes. When the pasta is done pour the garlic butter sauce over the pasta and mix. Sprinkle some parsley if desired. You could make a fresh green salad, garlic bread. Grill some kind of veggie with the steak. Marinate the veggie in olive oil with an herb(ie..basil, garlic salt, italian season), put it in a foil bag and grill for 5 min. on each side. I usually do squash, mushrooms, zucchini, etc.

Take and grill you some squash with red onions.Take a large piece of foil.Chop up some squash(depending on amount needed) then ring you a red onion.Sprinkle with seasoning salt, add one ice cube,a dab of butter. Then close the foil tightly, make sure of the ends.Lay it on the grill about 15 mins before the steaks turning once.Depending on how long you cook your steaks it will be delicious.Add more cubes of ice if you want any juice to be in the foil.

Yum! Have you ever considered creamed spinach? Unusual yes, but very tasty and filling. You might also want to consider:

1. Baked potatoes
2. Twice baked potatoes with bacon, cheddar, and chives
3. Corn Spoonbread
4. Yukon Gold potatoe salad with fresh asparagas and lemon zest
5. Spinach salad with bacon, candied walnuts, mandarin oranges, feta cheese and Catalina dressing
6. Sliced tomatoes with fresh basil and mozarella in olive oil
7. Artichokes, steamed with butter or mayonaise
8. Fresh asparagas, steamed crisp-tender, with grated parmesan
9. Fresh green beans with sauteed bacon and onion
10. Baked potato casserole
11. Caesar salad

I've had all of the above with barbecue at one time or another and I can vouch for their success! Enjoy!

Baked Potato, it is the best side dish for a good steak

Sauteed mushrooms and onions. You can add some sliced zucchini to the mix and saute it with butter, garlic salt (or powder and add salt), and a little soy sauce or worchestershire sauce (omit any of the salt if you use these). Saute until a bit soft, but so the zucchini still is a bit crisp on the outside.

This goes great with baked (I microwave) red potatoes.

We love coleslaw with ours and our fav is just the cabbage ( i buy it already shredded) and then mix Marzetti original slaw sauce ( you can find it in any grocery store). I don't like mine real saucy so I add a little, toss, and more if too dry. It's better than any I've made or tasted. Try this with a baked potato with sour cream.
