As far as I know it is Italian.

Go this link and you will find the origin and family crest:

Now Casanova with one "s"
Catalan and Italian: topographic name from Latin casa ‘house’ + nova ‘new’, or a habitational name from any of the many places named with these words.

I know that casa means house and no va means it does not go. So maybe it fits. Cassanova may mean do not leave the house?

Casa is Spanish for house and Nova does not mean "does not go". In order for this to mean it does not go, the word "nova" has to be separated as followed: no va.

My guess is that it is not Spanish.

I don't think so. I think it's a word to describe a charismatic man. Still, if it IS a name. It's definitely not Spanish.
