Yes, but you have to keep the cast iron off the stove top. I use an oven rack placed over the hot surface....

I use mine on an electric stove. But I match the burner to the size of the pan. If the pan is slightly larger, then you should preheat it in the oven to make sure it's even warmed. Putting a cool pan on a burner that's smaller than the pan could cause the pan to break.
I learned from watching an Alton Brown episode that the best way to clean it is by using kosher salt. It doesn't melt away, it absorbs the excess grease, it cleans anything off the pan and it doesn't take the wonderful finish off of the pan. After dumping the salt into the trash can, I just add a thin coat of oil and it's ready to go the next time I need it.

i take advantage of a forged iron comal on my electric powered range continuously. For a time-honored skillet, I want the well-known nonstick, yet tortillas do not come out precise except they're cooked on forged iron, so I nonetheless use the comal. i've got had it for various years now and it does not warp or crack, this is much extra useful than the day i offered it because of fact this is completely pro now.

I do. Just mind the heat. For instance, I set the burner on high to quickly bring up the heat and, when the pan starts lightly smoking I turn to medium/medium low depending on the amount of food I am cooking.

Yep - we do it all the time. Just be gentle when you put it down so you don't bang the coils out of place.

Yes, if you have electric coils. No, if you have a smoothtop.
