My first one I got on my hip, where it could be covered by my jeans. I recently heard a man refer to the middle back g-string tat area as a 'tramp stamp'... just some food for thought.
If I was to do it over again, I'd probably go with back of shoulder.

I am getting my first one on my wrist. I love showing off my cartilage piercings, including a double helix industrial bar. I am proud of them because I think it through. Why hide it? Nothing trashy about a tattoo done right.
If you mean which artist would you use ... I am going with my piercer for it because she has done all but one of my upper piercings and I know how she works. Got it all figured out ... the best way to go.

I have one on each ankle. The closer to the ankle bone they get the more it hurts. However I can cover them if I want or show them off.
They call the lower back tattoo a tramp stamp here too.

I just think you should give serious thought to what you want from it, it is going to be with you forever nomatter where you put it.
I can tell you the more fleshy(meaty) an area the less painful, if you get it in a place close to the bone (ouch) trust me ankles are a tender spot.

Me personally, the same person who done mine. My brother's a tattooist. Ask around, look at others tattoos, ask them about the tattooist, hygiene, cost, etc.Depends where you want your tat. Look on sites for ideas

oh wait...lol..you mean body placement? im a dude so upper arms to start off with, then back then legs etc etc..
girls start off alot getting ankles done...

I thought about that a lot so I came up with a perfect place for a tatoo- I would get it on the bottom part of my stomach, you know, right above my v....a. That would be fun.....

Back, but not lower back like I did and now I look like everyone else. I wish I would have gotten it on my upper back, between my shoulder blades. Its hidden enough so it will never be seen at work.

I got my 1st on my boob. My next 2 are on my back in between my shoulderblades. Nice and private. I dont like showing them off.

somewhere not visible until you make it visible
like the lower back.
Hide it with a t-shirt
expose it with swimwear.
ect..
cause if it doesnt come out the way you like it, and people can see it. then that would just suck
