I assume you mean via the Internet. The answer is yes, I met my girlfriend initially online, then visited her in her country and now we live together and are planning to marry. I have met quite a few others that this has happened for too. However there are many extra challenges and dangers in allowing your feelings to grow too much from a relationship with someone that you have never met. It's easy to fall in love with the fantasy of what that person is like rather than the real person. So be careful but also be hopeful, be real with them and hopefully if they are real with you, you will discover when you meet each other for the first time that they are just what you thought and you will be what they thought and you have found a person that you would never have met any other way. Well if its the first, i talk to this guy on the other side of the world and he's lovely and yeah i pretty much love him. By being apart, u get to know their personality well. So yeah, its very possible.
Being further apart sometimes makes your love more. And definately proves that its strong!!
