I'm a cat lover and I have a beautiful grey cat.
Last night my son(who has anger problems)hit the cat with a metal toy.
Now the cat has a cut a little over a half an inch long on it's head. It's pretty deep too. She's bleeding and making a mess. She has already ruined a very nice towel.ll have her under the recycle been now with a weight on top.

The vet wanted $60 to sew her up.I didn't want to spend that kind of money.

Any ideas?

I think weather permiting, you should let her outside...I grew up in the middle of nowhere on a farm, and our cats almost always came back from scrapping a little worse for wear...but pulled through...cats are tough, she'll heal.

My cat now Manx/Persian is always fighting outside...has some war wounds we'll say, but he's fine...I get him to vet on occasion...he's always passed.

Unless the wound is dire, I guess I would not be too freaked out/touchy-feely.

That's my take.

If your son has anger problems you should not have a pet. Children need to be taught how to act around pets and if there is a behavior problem the pet will suffer. Take the cat to the vet and then find it a new home. A true cat lover would spend the $60. Most vets will let you pay in installments.

You are NOT a cat lover if you refuse to spend a measly $60.00 to have the cat treated for an injury your son inflicted. Please, please find another home for that poor cat. I'm afraid your son will end up killing it and you'll be in big trouble for animal cruelty as the supposedly responsible adult in the house. In fact, you're in trouble NOW beuase you refuse medical treatment for your cat. You can be fined $1000. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what you should do in this situation.

By the way, your son's anger issues is a very serious cause for concern. It could graduate to something worse. Until that is resolved, I truly truly beleive that you MUST NOT have pets around the house. Your son may develop a taste for torturing helpless animals and then graduate to actually hurting human beings. Serious. I am not putting you doen - I just hope that you will face the facts and take appropriate action:
1) Take the cat to the vet and have the wound treated
2) If you can't do that, surrender the cat the humane society or give it to someone who can give a safe, loving home
3) Take your son to counselling
4) Do not have pets around the house anymore until your son becomes better controlled

Ok yes 60 is kinda expensive for a cat to get stiches, but something else might be seriously wrong. If you have other vets in the area call them and get prices if your worried about the price.

Otherwise suck it up and take the cat to the vet. There is nothing really else you can do especially if the cat is still bleeding after all this time. If you dont do anything the cat can bleed to death.

Pay the $60 to help your cat. If you're really a cat lover, why would you want the cat to suffer? She's probably in pain. If she needs stitches, then the cut is pretty deep. By the way, you should also get your son some help with his anger problems. You know that pretty much all the serial killers first started abusing animals, don't you??

GO TO THE VET You can't do anything for the cat yourself and if it gets infected you will spend a lot more and run the risk of loosing your cat you say you are a cat lover that means there is no amount of money you wouldn't spend to make sure the animal is happy and and healthy you should consider giving up the cat.

If that happened to your child then you would pay it. But for a poor cat and you won't pay for it to get help then you don't need a pet at all. I agree with the person that says to find a new home for the cat. YOU DON"T LOVE ANIMALS IF YOU WON"T HELP THE POOR CAT. I have heard that anger in children can become something else. Find a home for the cat or YOU can get into trouble not caring for the cat. There are LAWS now to protect animals.

If you're a cat lover, then get the cat medical attention. You went and got the cat in the first place, now take responsibility for it. And on top of being hurt, now you've trapped him in a place where he probably doesn't have enough oxygen. If you didn't want to spend that kind of money, then why on earth did you get a cat in the first place?
And maybe you should teach your kids how to behave.

Why would you start your question with a lie? You most certainly are not a cat lover. Maybe when you get hurt someone will lock you in a box until they figure out what to do with you. And gee, I'm sorry about the towel. I'm sure that was more important than the kitten. Do that cat a favor and find it a GOOD home.

If you claim to be a cat lover and let your child treat it like that, then I say find another GOOD home for it, PLEASE!!!! Not to mention the fact that you wouldn't spend 60 dollars for your cat's health, the cut could get infected and a recycle bin is no place for a cat!!no offense, but I dont think you are a cat lover at all.
