I have 3 newfoundlands. One male and two females. My male is more hyper than the average newfie, but he wlaks right beside me on a leash. But usually only me. My two females have had no traing yet, (we've only had them a few weeks), but they walk with my two oldest kids, ages 10 and 8, without pulling a all.

If you've trained your dog how to heel, then you walk your dog.
If your dog leads you or especially if he pulls you, then he feels he's in charge. You need more training on how to change this.
These days, I find that taking my dogs to my local dog park for an hour is better than several walks. I do walk with them some there on-leash, but the park is off-leash. They have to sit and remain calm before I take off their leashes and let them play. After they've run for a bit, I find that they will stay very close to me. If I walk around the park, they do too. Sometimes they'll wander a bit to play with other dogs, but a whistle is all it takes to bring them back. However, my dogs were obedience trained, so I can trust them to behave properly.
There are a few ways to teach a dog to heel. I recommend a prong collar and some patience. ;-)

hi, I easily have had 2 canine in the time of my existence time and suitable now have a 2 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous Collie flow Shepard. We walk him for extra or less 20-half-hour interior the morning and concerning to the comparable interior the afternoon, we continuously walk him till now he has his nutrition, it fairly is two times an afternoon. whether after nutrition we can permit him outdoors interior the backyard so he can flow to the bathroom, which we can continuously freshen up afterwards. This replaced into the right comparable approach used on my final canine and he lasted for 17 years, so i think of it labored it out all suitable. A shepard flow boxer desires a large style of exercising so I propose you walk her two times an afternoon for extra or less 0.5 an hour each and every time, and in case you could permit her out interior the backyard some cases an afternoon that is large, purely so she will burn off some extra power. solid luck JC.

then as the dog whisper would say you must not be projecting calm assertive energy. the fact is you are the pack leader and as such should be able to get your dog to walk when you want. most likely you dont behave as the pack leader so thats why the dogs act like they are. people love to project peopleness on their pets including dogs. but dogs are dogs and as good as they are living within our world they dont think like us. they just know how to live with us. so step up and be a pack leader and you will find that you walk your dogs and not the other way around.

I usually walk my dog 1-2 times a day and she is small and HYPER! You might want to walk yours maybe even 3 times a day: early morning, afternoon, and just before bed.

I walk both my dogs about once or twice a day depending on the weather. They use to walk me but then we went to doggie training and they don't drag me anymore. They just happily walk beside me and each other.
